BLOG 8: Learning English in our times

Imagen
Hello guys, I hope you're very well. This week is my last blog and I have to talk about the challenges of the English language for me. Personally, I had very bad experiences learning English at school, therefore, when I had to face English at university it was very complicated, I literally started from 0 and I think that even in English 1 they expect us to have at least one base and I felt at a disadvantage. Then I realized that my biggest obstacle was in my mind, I had a type of blockage, which has not completely disappeared, but it's minor, and I think it's because I'm very ashamed. Currently in English 4 I had a new obstacle that is the covid-19 pandemic, therefore, I didn't have face-to-face classes, however through these blogs I could meet my colleagues, while I improve and practice my writing In English, I think that commenting on other blogs allows us to stay connected while we learn, making it more enjoyable. Definitely one of the aspects of my Engl...

POST 7: Changes to my study programme

Imagen
Hi guys, I hope you had a good week. Today I will tell you about some changes that might be made to the syllabus of my study programme. As I told you in some previous blogs I study geography. The curriculum is designed in such a way that the first two years are of basic training, that is to say, more general of everything that geography includes, the following two years are of specialized training and the last year is of professional training, in total there are 5 years and personally I agree with this organization, however, I would like to have more GIS (Geographic Information System) courses because they are very useful, they require somewhat complex programs of great technology, but they are a great tool for geography. As for the teaching methods, what stands out the most are the field trips, which allow us to clearly demonstrate what is taught in a lecture and prepare us in a better way for the reality of work. The workload I consider to be adequate, sometimes it can feel a...

POST 6: Time travel to the future

Imagen
Hello guys, I hope you are very well. The theme of this week is a trip to the future and the truth is that is somewhat controversial for me, because I am not very clear about my image about the future, on the one hand I think that the way in which society is facing the climate crisis puts us a quite negative scenario, but on the other hand I also have faith that humanity will change its behavior and that the new generations can create a better world. If I can choose a time in the future to travel, I would probably choose in another 500 years, I would like to be able to answer my doubts about how society will face its current challenges or if they have made the same mistakes again. I'm not sure what time or day I would like to be, but to be 500 years in the future at any time or day would be really crazy. To be honest, I would not like to stay there, nor would I want to travel to a closer future because I have a philosophy that makes me value the present moment a lot, I think ...

POST 5: My dream job

Hi guys, I hope that you are having a great week. This week the topic is a little special for me because the future is something that has always given me anxiety, it took me a long time to choose to study geography because I did not want to work on something that I was not passionate me, but now that I am in the last semesters I have a new dilemma, to decide on this area of geography to dedicate myself because they are all so interesting and important. Despite that, if I know how I have always imagined my future work, I hope it is to dedicate myself to an activity that generates a contribution to society and nature, that my knowledge and years of study can help to improve the injustices of this country . Geography requires many field trips because it is the only way to enter the complexity of a geographic problem, therefore, there will be a computer work, but also to travel to the territory. I would like to work on the South, because it is very beautiful, and I think that...

POST 4: Free topic

Imagen
Hello guys, I hope you are very well. Today I am lucky enough to be able to talk about a free topic and I think it is the perfect occasion to tell one of the most brilliant and extreme experiences of my life, which is very recent. Last week, I decided to start a new adventure with my boyfriend and we did the W circuit on the Parque Nacional Torres del Paine , it was 5 days and 4 nights and we stayed in 3 different campsites, it was very extreme because there were many hours of trekking but it's a beautiful lakes and this was worth it. The complete circuit is approximately 71 kilometers long and on this journey I was able to see the Torres del Paine, the lakes Nordenskjöld and Skottsberg, the French valley surrounded by hanging glaciers and also the great Grey glacier wich is a beautiful lake, to finally return to the park entrance on a catamaran. One of the funniest things is that the weather was very changeable and in the same day we could have sun, rain or snow and all th...

POST 3: Related to my studies

Imagen
Hello, again, today I will talk to you about my geography studies. Many times I have asked what geography is, some people think it has to do with history and others with making maps, but the truth is much more complex. There are many branches of geography, but in essence geography is the study of the terrestrial surface, the societies that inhabit it and the territories that are formed when relate to each other. For example, there is environmental geography which is a good way to show how relates nature and human activities. We as humans occupy the nature and we modify it, but we also depend on it to survive. Currently There are many socio-environmental conflicts because the capitalist system does not protect the Nature and the consequences are suffered by the most vulnerable societies and in this sense the geography makes great contributions from Environmental Justice. Finally I would like to know your opinion on a very common question of geography environmental Do you believe t...

Imagen
Hello guys, today I am very happy to tell you about the best vacation of my life.   During the summer holidays with my boyfriend we traveled to the south, we went for three weeks and we visited very beautiful places, my favorite place was the town of Cochamo because it has a valley where we camped for 7 days and it was a real adventure. To get to the campsite we walked 13 kilometers at a height of 320 meters, there was no sign and I loved being disconnected, we stayed at a campsite called "beautiful view" and it really was like that, plus every day we could go trekking and get to know New trails, for example, to hill Trinidad, the glacier "La Paloma" and the natural slides where I could bathe and it was a lot of fun. The town of Cochamo The hill Trinidad The glacier "La Paloma" Viewpoint from the glacier The natural slides This was the best vacation because I had never camped before and with my boyfriend, we really wanted to escape the city and the...
